Kluivert wins Golden Boy fan vote

Justin Kluivert could be the frontrunner to win this year's European Golden Boy award - if the fan vote is to be believed.

Kluivert, 19, has been confirmed as the first recipient of the 'Golden Boy Web'; as the winner of the fan vote on the best Under-21 player currently playing in Europe.

As revealed by Tuttosport, one of the European newspapers that manages the award, Kluivert was a narrow winner in the public vote - edging out Everton's Tom Davies to win.

Unlike Davies, Kluivert is also on the final five-man shortlist for the overall award, which is decided by journalists from around the continent.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Vinicius Jr (Real Madrid), Matthijs De Ligt (Ajax) and Patrick Cutrone (AC Milan) are the other contenders.

Vinicius and De Ligt finished third and fourth respectively in the fan poll, although neither managed even half the votes Kluivert accrued.

The overall prize will be awarded at a gala event in Turin on December 17. Kluivert will be there to receive his 'Golden Boy Web' prize, but could yet pick up the main award too...
