Florenzi: We can improve but win was vital

The Giallorossi left it late to kick off the campaign with a victory – but Florenzi was content all the same.

“It’s always great to get the win – in the first minute or the last,” Florenzi said. “The main thing is to win, and it is a win we deserved.

“In pre-season we learned what we learned, but today we needed to win and we go home with the three points. We are pleased.”

With scorching conditions in Turin making it difficult for both sets of players, Florenzi was aware that Eusebio Di Francesco’s side still have plenty of room for improvement.

“It really was hot out there,” he added. “We dealt with it well on the pitch; we fought until the end in search of the win, as a team. We had to win, it was important.”

He added: “There are things we need to improve on, from that final pass to the first build-up. We need to get better because the squad is set now.

“We need to improve as players and build our confidence, and make the right choices out on the pitch. We want to improve on everything we did last year, and avoid any major setbacks.”
