AS Roma announce Umberto Gandini departure

AS Roma and Umberto Gandini can confirm that the two parties have reached a mutual agreement to bring an early end to their professional relationship.

The club would like to thank Mr Gandini for his hard work and the results achieved during his time as the club’s chief executive, and hope he finds a new challenge as soon as possible.

"I want to thank Umberto for the dedication and professionalism he has shown over his time at the club and I wish him the best for his future endeavours," said AS Roma president Jim Pallotta.

Gandini joined the club in September 2016. In the two seasons since, Roma have twice qualified for the Champions League – reaching the semi-finals of the competition last term.

"I have had two very stimulating seasons at Roma, during which I have seen the club grow both on and off the field," Gandini said.

"Given the results we have achieved and the life choices I am preparing to take, I believe that my time with Roma has come to a natural end and have decided – in accordance with the club – to bring forward the conclusion of my contract.

"I would like to thank president Jim Pallotta for the opportunity he has given me. Rome and Roma represent a fundamental stage in my career – a period of growth that I will always carry with me.”

Gandini added: “I would also like to thank the entire Board of Directors, management and all the staff, who welcomed me and supported me: from those whose daily efforts have contributed to on-field successes and taken the club to the upper echelons of European football, to the those who have helped to enhance the Giallorossi brand and allowed us to sign partnership agreements without precedent in the history of AS Roma.

"Whatever challenges the future has in store for me, I will always harbour a sense of affection and gratitude towards this city, AS Roma and all of the club’s fans."
