Brazilian defender Maicon tonight expressed his anger with the manner in which Roma slumped to a 6-1 defeat at Camp Nou against a Barcelona team in scintillating form.
"We didn't do anything today, we were on the back foot for the entire 90 minutes without contributing a single thing," Maicon began in his post-match breakdown. "We tried to start a few counter attacks but we weren't able to get possession of the ball. The 6-1 scoreline flatters us because we could have conceded more based on how we played."
The Giallorossi full-back was bitter above all that Roma didn't produce the kind of performance they've been churning out with regularity this season.
"We're used to dictating the play, imposing our own game and having control of the ball. We did hardly any of that tonight - almost nothing at all."
Nevertheless, Maicon – who has now made six appearances this season and two in the Champions League – believes that the squad should put this behind them and move on to the next game.
"This defeat doesn't change our objectives for the season. We have to keep on going in the same direction. We've set ourselves some targets and we must reach them. There's an important match coming up in the league on Sunday so let's put this out of our minds and switch onto the next challenge."
