Falque disappointed not to claim win

Falque

Iago Falque feels Roma should have come away from the Stadio Bentegodi with all three points today

The Spanish forward fired Rudi Garcia's side into a 3-2 lead in the second half only for Chievo to peg Roma back with a late leveller.

Falque believes it was a case of two points dropped but insists Roma must quickly shift their focus onto the next fixture.

“It's a pity we couldn't take three points home today given how the game went,” Falque reflected after the final whistle.

“We're disappointed but we have to take the positives from this match and immediately turn our attentions to AC Milan because it's a big one.”

Are Roma still in the title race after this draw today?

“We want to win and we'll try to do that, first against AC Milan on Saturday and then in all our other games. Roma are a team with great quality that's been built to win. We should have won today and we nearly did. It's a real shame.”

Just how disappointed are you?

“Very. We were doing really well. We were in control of things and weren't running any risks at the back. We were playing well. They scored their first on a counter-attack then managed to draw but after that we got our noses in front again. I guess ultimately we weren't able to see the game out – that was our problem today. Apart from that we played some lovely football and carved out lots of chances.”

Your versatility is clearly an asset to this team...

“I'm lucky because Rudi Garcia believes in me. I always give everything I've got and I'm glad to have his confidence but I'd have been even happier if we had started the new year with a win.”

Are you in better physical shape now than you were before Christmas?

“Yes, I am. I had lots of problems with my knee towards the end of the year which meant I wasn't fully fit for a number of games. Some of my team-mates were even worse off so I had to play through gritted teeth, but sometimes your sacrifice pays off even if you're not at your best. The Christmas break was good for me though. I don't feel any more pain and hopefully I can kick on now and rediscover the form I was in earlier on in the season.”
