Zukanovic: Carry on like this and we'll go far

Ervin Zukanovic is convinced that if Roma stick to the kind of performances shown against Empoli they'll continue to improve throughout the rest of the season.

Back in the starting XI at the Stadio Castellani, the Bosnian defender declared that he's happy with the team's latest victory and the work he's doing personally under Luciano Spalletti.

"If we carry on like this, we'll go far," Zukanovic began in his post-match interview. "We're delighted with the sixth consecutive win and I'm pleased with how I'm doing. Spalletti is helping me to develop."

Do you agree with the coach when he said this was one of the best performances so far?

"Yes, we studied Empoli during the week and saw that they are a good team who play with the ball on the deck. Our preparation for this match was good and we showed that on the pitch today. We deserved the win. The opposition still proved they're a tough prospect to face."

How far can this Roma team go?

"We can achieve big things if we continue in this spirit. The gaffer has changed a lot since he came in. We picked up our sixth win on the bounce at Empoli and this is important both for the table and morale."

It's a shame about your own-goal…

"That's football for you. Wojciech Szczesny palmed the ball onto my head and they scored. It can happen in this sport. The important thing is to carry on playing well after these incidents.

"Throughout the game we were aggressive and focused. Once again, now we need to carry on like this and the results will continue to pour in."

What's your favoured position?

"I can play in a back-three or a back-four and even as a full-back. The main thing is that I'm happy here at Roma.

"I want to continue to make progress and I'm aware I can do more. I'm 100% convinced there's more to come.

"Let's stay concentrated and work hard, the results will come."
