We are now down to the final five matches of the season, with Roma hosting a Torino side in scintillating form on Wednesday.
Luciano Spalletti will have his men focused and ready to get back to winning ways, but here are three players who will be looking to ruin the Giallorossi’s Champions League ambitions…
Regarded by many as the best right wing-back in the league, the 26-year-old is now finishing his second season with the Granata.
Peres’ capability in offence has led him to scoring once and making three assists already this season, but his defensive abilities deserve equal respect: in 26 matches, he has made 40 tackles with a success rate of 52%.
Furthermore, Peres has completed 31 interceptions, made 36 clearances, and achieved four blocks to become one of the cornerstones of the Toro.
Roma are no stranger to his exceptional pace and acceleration – the defence will have to put in a concentrated performance and commit to a strenuous 90 minutes if they are to stop him from marauding down the flank.
In just his first season at Piedmont’s capital city club, the 22-year-old is leading the Granata attack with ten goals and four assists. A true fox-in-the-box, Il Gallo has four goals and an assist in just the last six matches.
Coach Giampiero Ventura is desperate to give the youngster a rest, but injuries across his frontline mean that is not currently possible. Having played 2,147 minutes so far this season, the Italian U21 striker has maintained a marksman’s shot accuracy of 52%.
With such focused performances, Roma will have to prevent Belotti from seeing any sight of goal on Wednesday evening.
Coming into his own at 24 years-old, the central midfielder has been essential to Torino's success this term.
On top of his four goals and two assists, Baselli has created 45 chances in the league to date. Vital to Giampiero Ventura's tactics, the former Atalanta playmaker has also completed 513 passes with a pass accuracy of 80% - of which 68% were forward passes.
His intelligence and movement make him difficult to keep track of, while a powerful and accurate long-range shot makes him a constant goalscoring threat when the ball rolls free around the box.
With five matches left in the season and injuries hitting others in his position, the midfielder will be giving his all in the hope of a late call-up to Euro 2016. A star turn against Roma will only help his case in that regard, and so the Giallorossi midfield will have to be alert to Baselli’s whereabouts throughout.
