Roma v Chievo: Three opposition players to watch

Chievo players

Ahead of the final game of the season at the Stadio Olimpico, which players will the Giallorossi have to pay particular attention to?

Only the final two matches of the season remain, and Roma are still in with a chance of finishing second in Serie A.

On Sunday the Giallorossi host a tricky Chievo Verona side, led by Rolando Moran, who will be looking to finish the campaign with a flourish after securing their status in the top flight with games to spare.

While Luciano Spalletti tries to keep his squad from worrying about Napoli’s match later on in the day, Roma will have to make sure these three players don’t influence proceedings and thwart their ambitions for automatic Champions League qualification…

Roberto Inglese

Chievo players

He made his Serie A debut this season and immediately left an impression in Chievo Verona's front-line. Inglese has bagged himself three goals so far and combines the physique of a traditional centre-forward with good technical ability that is key to the way Rolando Maran's team plays. He has won 83% of challenges and recovered possession 46 times. He's completed 69.4% of his passes, more than two-thirds of which came in the opposition's half.

Perparim Hetemaj

Chievo players

He's known for the grit and aggression he brings to the pitch for every game and the stats are there to back it up. Peparim Hetemaj has committed the most fouls this season (64) but has also been fouled 164 times, the second most in 2015-16. He's superb at checking opposition moves, having won 85% of tackles and made 50 interceptions. Not merely a defensive expert, however, the 29-year-old has successfully completed 78.4% of his passes, the majority of which were in the opponent's half. These numbers speak of a cultured central midfielder.

Nicola Rigoni

Chievo players

The 25-year-old has been the backbone of Chievo’s steadiness this year. In 20 starts, the centre midfielder has notched three goals along with an assist, and makes almost two successful long balls per match. Further, his passing has been impeccable – completing 681 of them so far, of which 93% were forward passes.

On top of his offensive attributes, Rigoni has shown he is a balanced midfielder – averaging two tackles made and almost two interceptions per match. A player on the rise in Serie A, Rigoni will be eager to put his name on the tongues of more fans by impressing in front of the capital club.
