The Giallorossi go into the match two points behind Marco Giampaolo's high-flying Blucerchiati knowing that nothing less than a win will do if they want to keep hot on the heels of the early pacesetters.
And Roma's Brazilian right-back reckons he knows just how to beat them.
“Sampdoria are always a tough side to play against and we know how good their players are,” the 26-year-old said in an interview with Sky Sport Italia. “We need to make the most of the fact we're playing at home and dictate the tempo if we're to win what's a massive game for us.”
Peres, who has made three appearances for Roma since joining in August, also discussed how he's finding life at his new club.
“From a tactical point of view I think I've been able to slot straight in," he added. "I'm playing an attacking style of football, which is what I was used to and I like that. But we also do a lot of defensive work so we're learning and improving.
“I can play on the left too if needed – it makes no difference to me. I played on the opposite flank when I was at Torino.”
Finally, the Brazilian revealed his optimism for the rest of the season.
“We've got a great team, we have big things in mind and I think we can achieve them. That's why we're all working so hard.”
