The Brazilian was an impressive force on the left flank for the Giallorossi, helping in defence and attack as Kevin Strootman and Radja Nainggolan scored in a 2-0 win.
See what the defender had to say in his post-match interview...
You were tasked with keeping Keita and Felipe Anderson quiet down the flanks. Mission accomplished I'd say...
"Yes, we managed it. We had to dig in but we stopped them. I'm pleased because we won and kept a clean sheet."
What does it feel like to win the derby?
"It's fantastic. It was my first derby and I'm pleased but we have to keep working hard to improve."
Do you realise how much you've improved since August?
"You're right, my mentality has changed and a while back I realised what playing for Roma is all about. I must stay grounded to keep progressing."
When did [Luciano] Spalletti tell you the formation?
"We trained all week on two tactical options. Then we decided on that one and we did very well."
You're from Brazil and I imagine you have been particularly affected by the Chapecoense tragedy. Is there anything you'd like to say?
"It's hard as I had two friends in that team. We have to get behind all of the families that have lost children, fathers and husbands. God knows what he's doing and we must all get on with our lives."
