Prohaska warns of Wien's speed in attack

Prohaska

Former Roma midfielder Herbert Prohaska has warned his old club that Austria Wien will be a threat on the counter-attack when they face off on Thursday

The former Austria international, a Scudetto winner with the Giallorossi, both played for and managed Austria Wien - who come to the Stadio Olimpico in the third game of the Europa League group stage this week.

Luciano Spalletti's side go into the game as favourites but Prohaska, now a television pundit, believes Wien can cause problems.

Who will you be supporting?

"Well, Roma will forgive me. I had the best moment of my career in a Giallorossi shirt but you can't forget 14 years at Austria Wien, without even taking into consideration my stints as coach. I hope both teams make it through."

From a technical point of view, how do you see the double header panning out?

"Luciano Spalletti's squad is clearly stronger. Thorsten Fink doesn't have Edin Dzeko or Mohamed Salah at his disposal. The Giallorossi should really be playing in the Champions League but they were a bit unlucky against Porto. Having said that, I think Austria Wien should set themselves the target of at least one point from the two games.

"Be careful, however, because this team has a 100% record away from home and up front they have two quick strikers in Nigerian [Olarenwaju] Kayode and Brazilian [Lucas] Venuto, who can cause problems. Nevertheless, I believe Roma's real objective is on the league, so I reckon they'll rest a few players on Thursday."

What do you think of Francesco Totti's ongoing sporting miracle at 40 years old?

"He's fantastic, the best player in Roma's history, but I think he must be quite difficult to manage at this stage because I imagine he always wants to play and the fans want to see him in action. It's a problem for Spalletti, whom I consider to be a great coach."
