Alessandro Florenzi was stretchered off during the final 10 minutes of Roma's 3-1 win over Sassuolo on Wednesday after suffering a knee injury.
The versatile wide player has suffered a sprain to his left knee, and the full extent of the injury will be assessed over the next 24 hours.
Speaking to Premium Mediaset after the match, team doctor Riccardo del Vescovo gave a short update on Florenzi's condition and the next steps in his assessment.
“We'll run diagnostic tests as soon as we get back to Rome tonight," Del Vescovo said. "It's still early but there are a couple of positive aspects to note: one is that the knee hasn't swollen up too much, and the other is that from the first tests the joints seem fairly stable. The next step is to go through and rule out the range of potential injuries following a violent trauma like this.
"[But] there are a couple of good signs there.”
The club will provide updates on Florenzi's condition in due course.
