The initiative, organised by Roma Cares in collaboration with GeCo Animation, has extended its reach to long-term patients in children's hospitals, ensuring that they too get the chance to meet their heroes.
"Roma has come to spread joy among those who can't be at home for Christmas and are fighting in hospitals instead," Florenzi said. "This is an important thing to do; let's hope it continues."
Amid all the smiles and excitement of the day, the kids were able to ask Florenzi questions and take photos with him.
"This was an important morning for me," he added. "Visiting these children always makes me feel proud. I saw in their eyes that they weren't prepared to give up.
"I'm sure that all the kids who were here today and throughout the department will make it."
Florenzi also spoke about bullying and marginalisation during the event, issues which victims of illnesses often have to endure.
Here are the photos from the morning.
