Media Watch: Grenier hailed after lively debut display

LK

See which players the Italian newspapers picked out for particular praise after Sunday's 3-0 victory over Palermo.

A number of Giallorossi performers received plaudits for their displays...

Corriere della Sera - Clement Grenier & Stephan El Shaarawy: 7

Grenier – "Excellent first start after playing two minutes against Fiorentina and 55 for Lyon (Ligue 1, Champions League and Coupe de France). He provided two assists. El Sha converted one, Radja Nainggolan failed to finish the other. He's not quick but he's good at moving the ball swiftly."

El Shaarawy – "He started after the unfathomable 100-second appearance in added time against Lyon and made his mark with his fourth league goal of the campaign. Just like everyone else, he needs confidence to perform."

Corriere dello Sport – Grenier: 7

"A surprise inclusion. Off the pace physically but not in terms of his touch. His delightful pass to El Shaarawy was a sign of his ability, as were his through ball to Nainggolan and another assist for El Sha. Excellent full debut."

Leggo – Edin Dzeko: 7

"His first shot, a right-footed volley ended up in the stands. His second, meanwhile, was a delicate finish as the keeper came out which found the back of the net. His 30th goal of the campaign."

Repubblica – Grenier & El Shaarawy: 7

Grenier – "The best news of the evening. Always at the heart of the action. He set up El Shaarawy's goal and provided an equally good pass to Nainggolan."

El Shaarawy – "On top of his goal, he was the Giallorossi's biggest threat."

Il Tempo – Grenier: 7

"He was a creative hub on his first start. He set up the opener with one of his passes and provided another two gilt-edged chances which Nainggolan and El Shaarawy squandered. Another asset."

Gazzetta dello Sport – El Shaarawy: 7

"Like an irritating bit of sticky tape on the opponents' fingers. Sharp turns, late rates, quick breaks and a goal which highlighted his cool head in the final third. Clinical at the right time."

Il Messaggero – Leandro Paredes, Grenier & El Shaarawy: 7

Paredes – "He sat in front of the defence like Daniele De Rossi, played passes and halted opposition moves. The odd burst forward and he always knows what to do. He never lost his bearings throughout the full 90 minutes. Deservedly shown a yellow card."

Grenier – "A full debut having only played two minutes of added time against Fiorentina. He really stepped up, always wanting the ball, playing plenty of passes and his first-time assist for El Shaarawy was delightful. Positive display, harder tests lie ahead."

El Shaarawy – "Positive and full of desire, he combined breathless runs with top-class touches. His movement in the box for the goal was perfect. Crucial even though he missed a chance to put the game to bed."
