The Giallorossi head to Sicily to face Palermo on Sunday evening, on the back of three successive defeats across three competitions. The team can still recover on all fronts, but it is critical they get back to winning ways as soon as possible.
Spalletti is confident his squad can turn it around.
“How do we get out of this run? The only way is to win the next game," Spalletti said at his pre-match press conference. "When you’re on a losing run, the best antidote is exactly that – winning again and re-establishing that self-assurance among the players, of the ability they have.
"It’s clear that we need to assess other games – it’s not just one we’ve lost. One of our wheels has got stuck in the mud and I’m the one responsible, because it’s me driving the car. So it’s absolutely key to have the right amount of horsepower under the bonnet, to be able to get out of the mud.
"Sometimes you can do so straight away but at the moment we’re really bogged down and it’ll be horsepower that makes the difference."
He added: "We’ve got the strength to get the car back on the road, with our tyres on the tarmac, and back on our journey. The strength and ability of the squad, that is what gets you back on track.
"My thoughts are the same: I’ve got a strong squad and a selection of players that can help me get out of difficult situations, like the one we’re experiencing.”
