The final day of the 2015-16 season and Roma had to win and hope for Napoli to unexpectedly drop points against Frosinone to leapfrog the Azzurri into second place. Mohamed Salah gave Spalletti's team the lead on the break before former AC Milan man Stephan El Shaarawy doubled Roma's advantage and Emerson Palmieri settled matters, tapping in for his first Giallorossi goal.

In an unusual fixture, with AC Milan coached by former Roma great Nils Liedholm, a header from Roberto Pruzzo sealed a first win at San Siro for 17 years. Giuliano Terraneo failed to hold Ciccio Graziani's effort, Zibi Boniek collected and fed the hitman. That left Roma three points behind leaders Juve.

Roma recorded their first win at the Rossoneri in 20 years and confirmed their status as Inter's main challengers. Totti did it all for Spalletti's side. The captain gave the Giallorossi the lead with a volley from a Rodrigo Taddei pass. Then, after Cristian Brocchi had equalised, he finished a move which began with a memorable Alberto Aquilani rabona.
