AS Roma presents the results of the “Tieni in gioco la vita” project at ACI’s “Liberi di Guidare” event

The club was invited to present the first results of the safe driving project developed for high schoolers of the capital, in collaboration with Automobile Club Roma, Ready2Go, Toyota and KINTO.

Three editions, which involved 400 high schoolers from nine high schools located in eight municipalities of the capital, 15 hours of theoretical training in class, as well as over seven hours of road tests and a dedicated fund to continue the project in schools. The project is dedicated to a young road traffic victim and Roma fan, Francesco Valdiserri. This has been the first assessment of the “Tieni in gioco la vita” (Keep life in play) project, which was launched by AS Roma in April 2024 in collaboration with Automobile Club Roma, Ready2Go, Toyota and KINTO. Its purpose is to help promote responsible driving among young people.

The results of the initiative were presented in Rome on 3 December during the event titled “Liberi di Guidare” (Free to drive), organised by ACI on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The event was attended by an AS Roma delegation that included Chief Football Operating Officer Maurizio Lombardo and AS Roma Academy players Nicolo Troiani, Gianmarco Tumminelli, Carolina Leopardi and Alice Reali, all of whom have taken part in the courses with their team-mates over the past few months.

Journalist Luca Valdiserri was also in attendance: he contributed to developing the project by sharing his story as the father of a road traffic victim and an activist in road safety campaigns.

AS Roma launched the project in compliance with its “Protection of minors and young people” policy included in its Sustainability Strategy. The club reiterated its commitment to helping reduce the dramatic toll of victims from road accidents that occur in Rome (over 16,000). These events are the direct consequence of distractions, such as using the phone while driving, lack of attention while intoxicated and violating rules of the road owing to ignorance or carelessness while driving. These attitudes are often deadly and can be eliminated or at least mitigated through ongoing awareness campaigns.
