The Giallorossi, going into the final round-robin match of the group stage knowing that avoiding defeat would be enough to secure their place in the quarter-finals, successfully achieved that target – as Emilie Haavi equalised mere moments after Chiara Beccari had given the hosts a first half lead.
Alessandro Spugna’s side created a number of chances throughout the course of the match, with Elisa Bartoli and Valentina Giacinti among those to go close.
However, as the game wore on Como only grew in confidence and ambition, leading to a nervy final few minutes as the Giallorosse saw the game out.
"We've achieved what we set out to do," Spugna said after the game.
"It was a good first half, the second half we were a bit beneath what we are capable of. But that can happen, considering we haven't played for a little while.
"It's maybe also credit to Como; but we got what we came here for and now we need to work hard ahead of the upcoming matches."
