Another huge match is in store for Alessandro Spugna's side this weekend, as they look to boost their top-of-the-table aspirations this season...

Roma Women host AC Milan at Stadio Tre Fontane on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 14:30).

With the Giallorosse currently just three points off league leaders Juventus, but also in a battle for second with a chasing pack that includes the Rossonere, the game promises to have huge implications for the remainder of the Serie A season.

Here's everything you need to know...

    Form Guide

Both sides come into this game having most recently played in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-finals. Roma edged to a 1-0 win away to Empoli in their tie, whereas AC Milan were humbled 6-1 by Juventus in their meeting.

Roma's last league encounter was actually against Juventus; the two sides drawing 1-1 in Turin. Milan, meanwhile, picked up the same result against relegation-battling Napoli.

    Statistics to know

Roma have actually only ever scored one home goal against AC Milan in Serie A since they began competing in the competition: Flavia Simonetti scoring that one in a 2-1 defeat at Tre Fontane back in December 2018.

But Alessandro Spugna's side have only lost one of their last 16 games in all competitions - winning 14 and drawing one. But that one defeat did in fact come against Milan - in the semi-finals of the Supercoppa in January (2-1).

Roma have scored in their last eight home games in the league (a club record), while they have drawn more games since the start of last season (nine) than any other side. Only three of those, however, came in games at home.

Only Juventus (81.4%) have had more possession this season than Roma (81.3%), yet Roma have had more shots (305) than any other. It is AC Milan, however, who have had the most shots on targe (117 to Roma's 116), underlining their efficiency in the final third.

Milan (13) have had more different goalscorers than any other side so far in Serie A this season - although Roma follow closely behind with 12 (paired with Sampdoria and Sassuolo).

    Focus on the Opposition

Milan have drawn two and lost one of their last three games in all competitions - conceding seven goals in that span. In the eight games prior to that (seven wins) they only conceded six goals.

Milan have never lost to Roma in Serie A: winning five games and drawing two. Both those draws came in the most recent meetings between the two sides. Juventus are the only other side Roma are yet to beat outright in a Serie A match.

Milan have kept clean sheets in eight of their last 10 away games in Serie A. Only Sassuolo (48) have scored more away goals in Serie A since the start of last season than the Rossonere (45).

Only Valentina Bergamaschi and former Roma player Lindsey Thomas have appeared in all 16 of Milan's Serie A games so far this season.

Alia Guagni, a January summer signing for Milan, has provided more assists than any other player since her arrival (four). That number is only matched by Roma winger Emilie Haavi.

    Giallorosse Spotlight

Annamaria Serturini and Paloma Lazaro (both 14) are the only Roma players to be in double figures for goals scored since the start of last season. Serturini also scored in the first league meeting with AC Milan this season.

Midfielders Andressa Alves (42) and Manuela Giugliano (35) have created more chances than any other players in Serie A this season.

Andressa Alves has been involved in seven goals so far this season (scoring three and providing four assists), equalling her record from last season.

Elena Linari has completed more passes (874) than any other player in Serie A this season.

    Familiar Faces

Lindsey Thomas made 49 appearances for Roma during her time at the club, scoring 14 goals in all competitions. She currently still sits fifth in the club's list of all-time leading goalscorers. This season for Milan she has scored 11 goals already - six of them in Serie A.

Martina Piemonte represented Roma back in 2018-19 - scoring six goals in 22 games in the club's first season in existence.

Camelia Ceasar and Manuela Giugliano both previously played for AC Milan during the 2018-19 campaign.
