With Thursday’s Europa Conference League semi-final decider against Leicester City looming on the horizon, Jose Mourinho made a number of changes to his side – introducing the likes of Tammy Abraham and Lorenzo Pellegrini on the second half.
Nevertheless, a stubborn Bologna side made life difficult throughout, with goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski making a number of important saves – while Rui Patricio was harldy a spectator at the other end either.
A frantic finish saw both sides have chances, with Pellegrini going agonisingly close with an injury-time volley.
In the end it finished goalless, however, doing little to hurt or enhance Roma’s hopes of finishing fifth in Serie A this season.
They can now concentrate on Thursday’s vital contest – while their next Serie A fixture will be against Fiorentina in Tuscany in eight days’ time.
