Roma Women 2-0 Verona: Serturini sparks winning return

After a dominant first half display from the Giallorosse it took until the dying moments for them to finally take the lead, as Annamaria Serturini made up for some prior misses with a pinpoint finish into the far corner.

When Paloma Lazaro continued her sparkling start to the season with a striker's finish from Agnese Bonfantini's cross soon after, Betty Bavagnoli's side had finally grabbed the control of the game that their dominance deserved.

"It was vital to win today," said Serturini. "I'm pleased to score but happier about the team's performance.

"We could have definitely done better in front of goal and we need to work on that - we have to take the chances we make."

In the second half Roma continued to push for goals, with only the continued excellence of Francesca Durante in the Verona goal thwarting them.

Andressa Alves - captain for the day - was among the players to force Durante into good saves, with Serturini also seeing another attempt hit the post.

Later on saw defender Osinachi Ohale make her debut for the club; another positive for Bavagnoli to take from the afternoon's exploits.

"I always thought this would be a strange season, with everything that is going on," Bavagnoli said.

"Finally, today we have put in a better performance in terms of our play and the chances we created.

"This win will give us a lot of confidence and be a big boost as we head into another important week."
