Roma Women 2-2 Fiorentina: Thunderous Serturini strike cancelled out

Roma Women were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw with Fiorentina on Saturday afternoon, despite a brilliant second half strike from Annamaria Serturini.

Serturini found the top corner from all of 30 yards midway through the second half to give the Giallorosse the lead for the first time in the match - only for Tatiana Bonetti to equalise from a free-kick with 10 minutes remaining.

Fiorentina had taken the lead in the first half through Daniela Sabatino, but a fantastic counter-attack from Betty Bavagnoli's side saw Paloma Lazaro head home against her former side to level things up.

In a game with good chances for both sides, Agnese Bonfantini and Sabatino both saw further strikes cannon away off the crossbar.

"There's a bit of regret, because I think we played really well against a very strong side," Bavagnoli said after the game.

"We created a lot of chances, some we could have made more of. But we need to keep playing like this - because it absolutely wasn't a wasted performance, even if a point does not help us much."

Midfielder Manuela Giugliano added: "We're disappointed because it's not the result we were after. We need to focus on the next one now.

"We will need to go out there again with the right attitude and try to make sure we win that one."
