Bavagnoli left disappointed by continued errors

Roma Women coach Betty Bavagnoli was frustrated by her team's continued wastefulness in front of goal, as the Giallorosse drew 1-1 with Florentia on Sunday afternoon.

After calling on her side to be more clinical in front of goal before the contest, Bavagnoli watched on at Stadio Tre Fontane as her side failed to build on Annamaria Serturini's goal - eventually being punished as Melania Martinovic scored a late equaliser.

The result leaves the Giallorosse in the bottom half of the early Serie A standings.

“I think we could have scored six today,” Bavagnoli said. “It’s hard for me to discuss, I’m frustrated.

“The girls created so many chances, but the weakness we tried to work on is clearly still there. I have to take responsibility for that, but from six yards out you have to score.

"Above all the mistakes are individual ones, both for the goal we conceded and the wastefulness we showed in front of goal. It’s not good.”

The side at least have the opportunity to bounce back next weekend - although it will be no easy feat against league leaders Juventus.

“I think we will need to play very differently against Juventus," Bavagnoli acknowledged.

"We are a young team with a few experienced heads, we are starting to see a united group but we still need to do a lot more.

"It’s not enough to score once and if we are happy with that, without continuing to push for more, we’ll never take that next step. I can only say that we will keep trying.”

Goalkeeper Camelia Ceasar, who came back into the side on Sunday and impressed with a few solid saves, also agreed with the coach.

"We need to try and do better in front of goal, because otherwise one mistake is enough for us to concede and turn the game into a draw," Ceasar said.

"Recently we've been playing really well but failing to get the three points - but we need to keep believing because that will come.

"We have to stay calm, stay focused and not put any additional pressure on ourselves."
