Dzeko: What superpower would I have? Ending all wars

On Friday afternoon, Roma captain Edin Dzeko sat down for a special live interview with another captain - Qatar Airways pilot Hassan Al Ibrahim.

The two captains asked each questions about each other's life experiences, work duties and more - including how they coped through the recent worldwide pandemic.

Here's some of what Dzeko had to say during the interview...

What do you like most about Rome?

“I love everything about Rome. It's a great place, especially for my family. The weather is great, the food is amazing. It's an historic, unique city - and I'm happy to be part of this club and live in this city."

What's the secret to making it as a top footballer?

“Sometimes the life of a footballer seems easy, sometimes people only see the good aspects of being a footballer or a professional athlete - like when you score a decisive goal or something. But to get to those moments it requires so many sacrifices and a lot of hard work."

What's your favourite goal you've scored so far for Roma?

“That's an easy one - maybe the best of my whole career is the left-footed volley I scored against Chelsea in the Champions League. Not just because of the quality of the goal, but because the fans were nearby too. The joy, the emotion after a big goal like that... it's hard to describe."

What's been the best moment of your career?

“I come from Bosnia, a small country that went through a painful war 25 years ago. For me, to represent my country is something unique - something that makes me so proud.

"The best moment was when we qualified for our first ever World Cup in 2014 in Brazil. That moment will stay with me for the rest of my life."

Did you always like football, or did you like other sports?

“My dad was a footballer - not at the highest level but still, for me my love of football definitely came from him. I liked basketball as well, I played that a lot as a kid. I don't think I could have ever become a professional but I liked to play it."

Who is the funniest member of the squad?

“We spend a lot of time together as a group, we are more than just teammates. Maybe the funniest among them all is Juan Jesus. Sometimes when the mood is not the best at training, he tries to lift the spirits with some jokes."

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

“I think it's an easy answer: I would like to have the ability to stop all wars happening anywhere in the world."
