Delight for Pellegrini and Mkhitaryan as they return to training

Lorenzo Pellegrini and Henrikh Mkhitaryan have been quick to express their delight at returning to full training this week - a big step as they look to get back on the pitch.

Both players rejoined their teammates for a training session for the first time on Thursday, being welcomed back into the group as they re-integrated under coach Paulo Fonseca.

With both players picking up injuries during the late-September victory over Lecce, the return to training has been a long time coming for both midfielders - and they seemed relieved at crossing another stage in the rehabilitation process.

Both players took to social media to pass comment on the week's events.

"Finally, the smile is back as well," said Pellegrini, as he posted a photo of him and Mkhitaryan embracing before training on Thursday.

"Let's go, brother!"

Mkhitaryan also posted the same photo, this time on Twitter, with the caption, "Coming back".

Having come through two sessions this week, the duo will be back next week for their first full week of training - after which Fonseca will evaluate whether either man is fit enough to be involved in the home game with Brescia on Sunday.

But, with the Giallorossi heading into another intensive spell of six games in 21 days, the approaching return to full fitness of both players will only be great news for the Portuguese coach.
