Veretout: Fonseca can help us continue to improve

Jordan Veretout knows the attitude will be key as Roma head to Milan to face Inter in a huge Serie A game on Saturday night.

The game at the Giuseppe Meazza sees the Giallorossi take on Antonio Conte's top-of-the-table side, as both clubs look to continue their strong recent run of form.

And Veretout, a summer signing from Fiorentina, is hopeful Roma can continue to show the progress they've been making under coach Paulo Fonseca.

“I really like our style of play – Fonseca is managing the group well and that’s important for the players,” Veretout told Sky Sport.

“For me he’s a great coach and will really help this side to improve. I hope that on Friday we are able to produce a great performance in Milan, for everyone.”

Both sides go into Friday’s game in great form. What sort of display do you need to produce?

“Yes, Inter are top and we are fourth. We have won three games in a row and we go to Milan looking to put in a great performance.”

What are you impressions of Inter?

“They are a top side, they are first in the league, they are very physical. Lautaro and Lukaku are difficult for any defence to contain – so we’ll need to put in a top performance to get a positive result.”

What do you think makes Pellegrini and Zaniolo so important to Roma?

“They are really important for us. Zaniolo has great physical qualities, Pellegrini has a lot of ability with the ball at his feet. Without doubt they are really important for us.”

What do you think about your performances so far?

“I know what I can do out there: give everything I have to help my teammates and the team. I want to give my best and win every game.”

So far you’ve played really well, but are there still areas you can improve?

“The coach helps me to work on my defects – there’s a lot to do, but every day in training I’m doing everything I can to get even better.”

Are Roma on the right path to reach the Champions League?

“I think so – we need to keep going like we have been. I think we’ve started the season well, but we need to keep pushing along this path – with aggression and desire to fight for every result. If we do that then we can go a long way.”

What’s the score going to be on Friday?

“I hope it’ll be a great game – with a positive result for us.”
