Roma 0-4 Juventus: Disappointing home defeat

Roma Women fell to a second successive defeat on Sunday afternoon, as reigning league champions Juventus ran out 4-0 winners at Stadio Tre Fontane.

A fortuitous strike from Maria Alves - the Brazilian's cross-shot from a wide area looping into the far top corner - gave the visitors the first-half advantage, and they were clinical in the second half as Cristina Girelli, Martina Rosucci and Arianna Caruso added further goals.

Betty Bavagnoli's side were firmly in the contest, especially in the first half, and had a few chances while the scoreline was close.

“We started well, with the right approach and we created chances," midfielder Giada Greggi said.

"But after the first goal we got disheartened, and they scored a few more.”

The result means the Giallorosse are now eight points off the top of the table.

“The result is a bit harsh on us," Bavagnoli said.

"Their first goal came in a way you can’t really prepare for. I have to say the team played well in the first half, but after the second goal we lost belief and weren’t able to perform the way we can.

"We will have to go away and analyse the ways we can go and improve.”
