Fonseca: We need to maintain our focus

Read what Paulo Fonseca had to say following Roma's 2-1 defeat against Borussia Monchengladbach on Thursday evening.

Marcus Thuram's late header decided the game, after Federico Fazio had previously scored at both ends.

What happened at the end with that set-piece?

"We should've stayed focused from that set-piece. We didn't get back into position as a team. It's a difficult situation to accept, but that's football. We did have four or five chances to change the game in the second half, but we should've remained focused until the end."

Kluivert should've made life difficult for the opposition defenders, but he made a few mistakes on the break in the second half. How far away is your team from implementing your tactics?

"It's a difficult situation to explain. Kluivert is young and over time he'll learn how to make the most of such openings as a very fast player who had plenty of chances in the game. We have to keep working hard with him so that he improves and learns more."

The ball seemed to go out in the build-up to Borussia's first goal. Luck doesn't seem to be on your side against them.

"I don't want to look for excuses for this result. I saw the move and the ball seemed to go out, but I'm not 100% sure. What can I say? This is football. It's easier to analyse it after the game, but what happened in the first match is harder to accept."

Four more points should be enough to qualify. How do you see it?

"We have to win our last two games and there's nothing else to think about. Four points aren't enough. We just need to think about winning them and we're capable of doing that."

Santon seems to be doing well.

"He had a good game out there tonight."
