Totti to captain Roma Legends in Formula E exhibition game

Francesco Totti wil lead out a special Roma Legends side, as they face a special XI of Formula E racing drivers in a special match in Rome next week.

Francesco Totti will captain a special Roma Legends side as they face an XI of Formula E racing drivers and friends in a special match in Rome next week.

The game, hosted by AS Roma at its Stadio Tre Fontane facility, will see the two sides face off in a special friendly match, in support of the Andrea Tudisco Association - a charity which focuses on ensuring children that require specialist hospital treatment in Rome are able to get all the support they need.

The Giallorossi’s charity arm, Roma Cares, are also supporting the event.

The match will take place on Thursday evening, with kick-off scheduled for 18:00 local time.

The game will be broadcast live on Twitter and Facebook through the club's social media accounts.

Alongside Totti, the Roma Legends team will feature the likes of Federico Balzaretti, Vincent Candela and Marco Delvecchio – while stars of Italian culture, among them actor Edoardo Leo, will also be involved.

For the drivers’ team, Formula E drivers Felipe Massa and Antonio Felix Da Costa will be joined by a number of other recognisable faces, including former Formula 1 driver Giancarlo Fisichella.

“AS Roma and Formula E share the same interest in innovation – as well as a deep belief in the importance of pursuing charitable initiatives,” said AS Roma chief revenue officer Francesco Calvo.

“For this reason we are delighted to provide our Legends side, in a game that certainly will not disappoint the fans.”

Alejandro Agag, president of Formula E, added: “To be a part of this initiative is something Formula E are very proud about. Our story, even if it is still only young, is made up of a number of small projects that have left a positive impact on the cities we have visited.

"I would like to thank Roma for making an event like this possible, and for their support in the build-up to the GEOX E-Prix di Roma.”

The partnership between Roma and Formula E will also continue on Saturday 13 April, as Totti will take to the circuit in Rome’s EUR district in the Gen2 electric racecar.
