After Edin Dzeko's early strike, it was Mancini who got himself on the scoresheet twice to clinch the victory for Paulo Fonseca's side - in what was the first official friendly of the Giallorossi pre-season.
Speaking immediately after the game to Roma TV, summer arrival Mancini acknowledged that it was nice to have scored already for his new club - but that his defensive performance remained the greater priority.
“When a defender scores it’s always good because it helps the team – but the main target is to defend in the way the coach wants us to,” Mancini said.
“Today the intensity moved up another level, compared to the other matches we had, as did the quality of the opposition.
"It was a good test and a decent game, we tried to put into practice the stuff the coach is asking of us – even if we can still do a lot better. Winning helps us keep working hard.”
He added: “As footballers we have to get to grips with what the coaches want as quickly as possible. I need to get better; I’m still young and there is a long way to go.
"I’m 23 and there is a lot I still need to learn. I’m pleased to be at Roma and to be able to learn from a coach like Paulo Fonseca.”
