The Giallorosse came from behind at Stadio Tre Fontane thanks to second half strikes from Annamaria Serturini, although it was the Champions League-contending visitors who eventually lifted the Trofeo Luisa Petrucci following a penalty shootout.
Nevertheless, Bavagnoli was pleased with what she saw from her side ahead of the new season.
“In general I am pleased, because we responded well,” Bavagnoli said.
“There are a lot of things we need to improve - especially in possession, where we need to be a bit more ambitious.”
She added: “We have taken a lot from this game, especially because of the opponent we were up against. I asked my girls to put in a good performance, regardless of the result. We started off a little bit timid, perhaps, and we didn’t impose ourselves. We let our opponents take the initiative, but in the second half we were able to fight back.”
Serie A begins next week and for Roma it starts with a bang, as the side host AC Milan on the opening weekend – before travelling to Fiorentina for matchday two.
“This test has allowed the squad to realise their ability, where we can go and what sort of sides we can compete against,” Bavagnoli added.
“In reality PSG are still a long way ahead of us, they put us in difficult but we kept going with the desire to prove ourselves. We showed what we can do on the ball, so we need to continue like that while being more clinical. The game against AC Milan will be a great contest.”
