The Egyptian forward, already a fan favourite at the Olimpico, left the pitch on a stretcher after going down in agony following a second-half challenge from Senad Lulic during Sunday’s 2-nil victory over Lazio.
While recieving treatment on the ligament strain to his right ankle at the club’s training ground, Roma's No. 11 posted a picture of himself on the treatment table with the message: “Another day recovering”.
After his message was retweeted over 650 times and favourited a further 1,873 times, Salah returned to Twitter to thank well wishers for their support – writing: “To my friends and fans I would like to say that your support means a lot to me. I thank you all for making this difficult time easier to bear”
Up until his injury, Salah had been in impressive form for his new club – staring in 15 out of 16 games this season and scoring six goals in the process.
Tests on Monday indicated his injury is expected to keep him out of action for four to six weeks.
