Spalletti warns against complacency ahead of Bologna clash

Spalletti warns against complacency ahead of Bologna clash

Luciano Spalletti has told Roma not to take anything for granted as they prepare to face mid-table Bologna at the Stadio Olimpico on Monday

Roberto Donadoni's side sit fairly comfortably in 13th place going into the business end of the season but the Giallorossi boss pointed to their recent result against Juventus as an example of why they should not be underestimated.

“Bologna are the only team that have managed to take a point off Juventus in the last 22 matches,” Spalletti recalled at a press conference on Sunday.

“However, I don't think my players will give anything less than their all out there. I'm sure they'll be able to demonstrate their quality.”

The Roma coach then highlighted the contribution made by his opposite number Donadoni, who has steered the Rossoblu away from the relegation zone since taking over in the dugout at the end of October.

“Donadoni is hard-working and professional and he knows how to convey his quality and character to the team. You don't get them out of the hole they were in unless you know how to teach football and organise your team on the training ground.

“The dip in form they've experienced recently is a consequence of all the good work he's done. He got them out of a very sticky spot and the players know they're virtually safe. A lull is natural after that but precisely because they don't have any worries this could prove to be a tricky game.”
