Five facts and figures after Roma's 1-0 win over AC Milan

ACM

We pick out some of the key statistics and curiosities after Roma's 1-0 victory over AC Milan on Monday night...

Vincenzo Montella's Roma curse continues. The head coach from Campania has never managed to beat the Giallorossi in the league with any of his former clubs – Catania, Fiorentina, Sampdoria and now AC Milan. It's a different story in cup competitions, where he's enjoyed two big wins as Viola coach in the Coppa Italia and the Europa League; both were at the Stadio Olimpico in 2014-15.

Luciano Spalletti faced Milan for the 13th time in all competitions as Roma coach, improving his record to eight wins, three draws and a single defeat, scoring 22 goals and conceding 13. In the league alone, Spalletti has crossed paths with the Rossoneri ten times, picking up seven victories, two draws and one loss, with 17 goals for and ten against.

There was confirmation once again that 1-0 is Roma's most frequent winning scoreline against Milan. The Giallorossi have narrowly edged this fixture by one goal to nil 17 times since 1927. The most common result overall is a 1-1 draw, having occurred 25 times.

50

Wojciech Szczesny and Kevin Strootman made it 50 league appearances for Roma against Milan, a major threshold for two pillars in Spalletti's side. The Polish keeper celebrated in perfect fashion by saving a M'Baye Niang penalty in the first half, adding to his penalty save from 21 September in Roma 4-0 Crotone. Stephan El Shaarawy also reached a round, if smaller, figure of appearances against the Rossoneri: the Italian has played 30 times in Serie A for the Giallorossi.

150

The victory against Milan, achieved thanks to Radja Nainggolan's strike, was the 150th win in all competitions for Spalletti across both spells in charge. Here are the stats behind the Tuscan coach's matches at the Giallorossi helm: 269 games, 150 wins, 63 draws and 56 losses, with 515 goals scored and 312 conceded. His first victory was back on 28 August 2005, when goals from Mancini, Daniele De Rossi and Shabani Nonda secured a 3-0 win away against Roma.
