Loan Watch: Ricci beats Skorupski from the spot

Winger Federico Ricci played the full 90 minutes for Sassuolo in their 3-0 victory over Empoli on Sunday, scoring for the second time in the last three matches.

Ricci’s goal came via a penalty kick, after Empoli midfielder Daniele Croce was judged to have handled the ball in the box in the 36th minute.

Ricci coolly stepped up to the spot and beat goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski, also a Roma loanee, to put the Neroverdi up 2-0. The Italy Under-21 international now has two goals in 12 Serie A appearances this season.

Sassuolo’s next match is on Thursday against Genk in the UEFA Europa League.

Winger Daniele Verde started and played the first 72 minutes of Avellino’s 2-1 defeat to Ascoli on Saturday, scoring a goal via a direct free kick. Verde now has three goals in 12 appearances this season.

Centre-back Norbert Gyomber played his first minutes since fracturing his tibula, starting and going the full 90 minutes in Pescara’s 1-1 draw with Cagliari on Sunday.
