Six Roma players were involved in national team action on Thursday, as international friendlies and World Cup qualifiers took place around the world.
In Europe, Eindhoven was the venue as two Giallorossi stars went head-to-head: with Kostas Manolas and Greece emerging victorious with a 2-1 win over Kevin Strootman and the Netherlands.
Both players were withdrawn before the 90 minutes were up, with Manolas being replaced at half-time and Strootman withdrawn just after the hour-mark.
Elsewhere, Radja Nainggolan started as Belgium were beaten 2-0 by Spain in Brussels. He was replaced at half-time by Mousa Dembele, with Roma team-mate Thomas Vermaelen not involved on the night.
Nainggolan’s midfield team-mate Daniele De Rossi was also in action, as he started in Bari in Giampiero Ventura’s first match as Italy coach, as the Azzurri lost 3-1 to France.
De Rossi was also withdrawn shortly after the break. Alessandro Florenzi came on soon after, replacing Mattia De Sciglio.
The fifth Roma player to be in international action on Thursday was goalkeeper Alisson, who played all 90 minutes as Brazil continued their World Cup qualification campaign with a valuable 3-0 away win over Ecuador.
Afterwards, the shot-stopper took to Instagram to celebrate the win, saying "Congratulations guys!"
