Gandini hopes to help Roma excel at home and internationally

The new board member has admitted that the Giallorossi are the only club he would have considered leaving AC Milan for

Ahead of his official appointment to the club's board of directors, Umberto Gandini explains why he opted for this new challenge.

Gandini has outlined his plans and aspirations for the Giallorossi, admitting his pride at being given the opportunity to help the club progress.

Gandini will formally join Roma's board at the end of October after more than two decades as part of AC Milan's team, and admits it was the potential for growth and progression that persuaded him to make the move.

Gandini now hopes to help the club ensure it can excel in every department.

"AS Roma is the only club I would have joined in Italy and I feel very proud to be wanted by the Giallorossi," Gandini said. "This is a pioneering club with an excellent set-up and a team that's been competitive for the last five years.

"AS Roma is not just a business; it's a footballing faith. I'll try to get into the Roman mindset as quickly possible.

"One of my objectives is to grow the club internationally. We want to excel."
