Mario Rui switches to No. 21

It's a return to familiar ground for the Portuguese defender, who had 21 both at his previous club Empoli and on his professional debut for CD Fatima.

Rui, who joined the club from Empoli in the summer, originally chose No. 22.

Starting from 1995-96, when squad numbers were first introduced in Italy, No. 21 has been chosen by a number of Giallorossi stars. The ones that stand out include Serie A winner Abel Balbo, Alberto Aquilani who played in this shirt during his debut season in 2002-03, Matteo Ferrari and Gaetano D'Agostino, who had 21 for the longest stretch – three seasons beginning in 1999-2000.
