Bruno Peres happy with Roma progress

Bruno Peres has revealed his satisfaction at his individual performance and the Giallorossi’s collective showing in the win over Tottenham on Tuesday evening.

"The team is doing well and I think we’re on the right track," the Brazilian told Roma TV after the final whistle at Red Bull Arena. "It was an important match for us tonight, a good test. We need to maintain that spirit until the very end."

How would you sum up your performance?

"I think I showed the right spirit and focus. That’s the way I want to be, but I’ve not achieved anything yet and I need to work even harder. We can’t rest on our laurels – we need to focus on growing and improving day in, day out. Personally I try to work on my fitness and improve tactically every time I train. Having that desire to improve is really important for me."

Next up for you in the International Champions Cup is a clash with Juventus. What are you expecting?

"The boss has said that there are no friendlies, even at this stage. Whenever we go out onto the pitch, he wants us to give our all and do everything we can to get the win. In my eyes that spirit is exactly right – you need that level of desire and concentration. As I said, today was a good test and we did well because we never let up. We deserved to win."

You shared the flank with Gregoire Defrel today. Is it useful for a full-back to play with that kind of forward?

"Absolutely, because he helps out defensively. That’s really helpful when you’re playing against a full-back that likes to push up, because the forward gives you a hand and it means you can double up against your opponent and make it hard for them. I think he had a great game and played really well. He’s shown the right spirit from the get go, now we need to keep it up."
