Kevin Strootman scored the only goal of the game for the Giallorossi midway through the second half, as Eusebio Di Francesco's side produced a far stronger display.
But the damage was done in the first half, as the visitors found themselves 4-0 down at the break after both Iago Aspas and Pione Sisto grabbed a brace for Celta.

Di Francesco opted to refresh his side almost entirely from the one that faced Sevilla on Thursday, with Gregoire Defrel - this time playing as a central striker - the one man to start both games.
The Giallorossi fell behind inside the first 20 minutes, as Federico Fazio was adjudged to have fouled the onrushing John Guidetti inside the box. Aspas converted the subsequent spot-kick.
Aspas would grab another shortly before half-time, steering home from inside the box after a sweeping counter-attack.
Between those goals it was Sisto who extended Celta's advantage: the winger lashing home from 25 yards shortly after Aspas' opener, and slotting in another at the far post soon after.
Roma, after many substitutions, improved in the second half - with Strootman and Edin Dzeko combining well for a consolation goal.
But the damage had already been done, with the Giallorossi finishing their last major engagement of pre-season with a loss.
Goalscorers: Aspas (17' p , 41'), Sisto (22', 27'); Strootman (63')
