The victory at the Mapei Stadium clinched third spot in Serie A for the Giallorossi, as they go into the off-season with lessons to learn and encouragement to take from a productive campaign - at home and in Europe.
You’ve finished third and another season in the Champions League awaits...
“Everyone saw the Champions League campaign we had: making it to the semi-finals was amazing. We want to continue this progress and keep looking forward.”
Eighteen points off first place is a huge distance, how can you bridge that gap?
“In any case we’ve had an excellent season – great in Serie A and amazing in the Champions League. We did pretty well over the last four or five months too, when we had games every three days.”
You end the season with the best defence away from home.
“We only conceded nine goals [away from home] which was very important. We’ve improved our defence but credit goes to the whole team.”
What will you take away from this season?
“Everything we’ve experienced this season because you learn from defeats as well. We have to take everything into next season. It was our first season under [Eusebio] Di Francesco and we did well. We know what he wants and that’ll be an advantage for next year.”
