WHO WE ARE
Founded in 2014 with the aim of promoting education and positive values in sport, Roma Cares is a public charity tied to AS Roma’s wider commitment to corporate social responsibility and the importance of respect.
Roma Cares aims to foster social solidarity through action in the areas of sport, charity, social care, education, training, as well as the promotion of culture and art.
The foundation is engaged in activities to benefit local communities, such as projects and campaigns aimed primarily at supporting and aiding the development of children and young people in difficult situations.
Roma Cares plans and holds free courses, sporting and cultural in nature, aimed at disadvantaged children and young people, harnessing sports’ priceless social and educational role.
"Sport has the power to change the world. Sport can create hope where once there was only despair. It is more powerful than government in breaking down racial barriers"
From football schools dedicated to supporting those with cognitive and physical disabilities, to education programmes on the themes of fair play, respect and tolerance in schools around the city - Roma Cares ensures the club and its players are very active in the community.
During a moment of acute difficulty for both Italy and the whole world, Roma Cares - in its own way - has done everything it can to help those in need. Focusing its attentions on the most needy and vulnerable in and around the Italian capital, the club has worked to help as many people as possible who have been affected by the current crisis.
Roma Cares organises auctions of authenticated, match worn kit on the Charity Stars platform. If you want the opportunity to grab yourself a shirt worn by one of your heroes - this is the way to do it!
ROMA CARES FOR THE WORLD
Roma Cares provides support for small teams, associations, parishes and non-profit organisations in Italy and abroad by giving them unused or faulty sporting goods from the club stores. More than 100 such entities benefit from that support every year.
SUPPORTING VITAL RESEARCH
Roma Cares continues to support Telethon, which seeks to fight genetic diseases. The team wore jerseys with the Telethon logo printed, in order to raise awareness of the organisation and boost its fundraising activity.
The foundation is also a partner in the Race for the Cure marathon, organised by the Italian section of breast cancer charity Susan G. Komen. On International Women’s Day, 8 March 2017, AS Roma for the first time gave their club badge a pink tint, to demonstrate its commitment to breast cancer research and its support of all women.
