There are places, such as prisons, where passion for the Giallorossi helps to pass the time and create bonds when it's impossible to share such moments with loved ones on a daily basis.
Listening to radio commentary of a match, sharing stadium memories or playing a game of five-a-side football are activities that provide inmates with variety to their days while serving their sentences.
Then come special anniversaries, such as Father's Day, on which the distance from their previous everyday lives is felt even more. With this in ind, on 19 March, AS Roma stepped up to provide a few hours of comfort and lightheartedness to the Rebibbia prison inmates.
Gathered in the Sala Teatro with Acting Director Rosa Musicco, Executive Commander Lucia Di Gioia, Deputy Commander Katia Feraco and Head of Education Sara Macchia were a group of inmates who received a visit from an AS Roma delegation led by club mascot Romolo. The visitors handed over some official balls and clothing on behalf of the club which the inmates can use to play football in the prison.
It was an opportunity to celebrate Father's Day in a different way than usual and experience a few hours of lightheartedness while the inmates wait to see their dear Roma live again with their children.
The initiative, inspired by the ‘Emergency and Rights’ policy of the club's Sustainability Strategy, is a further commitment on this front after the launch of the ‘Twinning Project’ in 2024. This saw dozens of inmates from the Rebibbia prison benefit from training courses for football coaches offered by AS Roma with a view to rehabilitation and reoffending prevention.
