Tsimikas's pre-Panathinaikos presser

Here's what he had to say:

How have your first few months at Roma been? What are your expectations for the second half of the season?

“I try to give the best of myself. Whenever the boss gives me the nod, I try to seize the opportunity. My goal is to improve as a player. I think I can do even better. That was and still is my target.”

How big an impact can the crowd have? Will they give your opponents an extra edge?

“Greek fans get really involved and they do help the players. We'll be focused. We want to win tomorrow to be sure of finishing in the top eight. We've come here to win. That's our sole objective.” 

We know that Liverpool wanted to bring you back. Do you consider going back? Are you happy to stay here?

“All I can say is that I'm very focused on Roma. I want to be part of this team and improve as a player. I've heard lots of things. The best thing you can do is shut it all out and try to do your best on the pitch when you get the chance. That's my aim. I'm here and I want to do my best. Always.”

What do you think about the tragic accident that happened to PAOK fans in Romania?

“I don't know how to talk about what happened yesterday. It's very sad for all Greek people. I hope that God can give the victims' families the strength they need and that those who were injured can get better as soon as possible. It's a tragedy that's affected everyone in Greece and me too, even though I'm not living in Greece. I've followed it all and I don't know what to say. I'm very sad. Speechless. I just hope the families can find the strength they need to keep going.”

How do you feel about playing against Panathinaikos again?

“I'm very happy to go back to Greece. I haven't played against a Greek team for many years and it's nice to be back here in my country. I'll get in touch with some of my national team-mates. I've finally got this opportunity to come back here and I'm delighted.”
