Dybala and Pellegrini comment on Sassuolo v Roma

Paulo Dybala and Lorenzo Pellegrini spoke after the end of Sassuolo v Roma, on matchday eight of the 2025/26 Serie A season.

Here are the two players’ comments.

Paulo Dybala

Roma are top of the table. The last time this happened was 12 years ago. What does that feel like?

“We’re calm, because we knew that it was possible. There’s still a long way ahead, it’s still very early. This is an important win. It’s important for us too, after the recent games we lost. We’re happy, but we’re already focused on Parma.”

On Roma’s forwards: it’s been said that you forwards do not score. Is what you did today your answer to that claim? [Pellegrini steps in: “YES!”]

“As forwards, goals are everything to us. We always want to score. Sometimes things don’t go our way, but what matters is for the team to win.”

You couldn’t wait to do that celebration for the baby on the way.

“Yes. My wife was starting to put a bit of pressure on me… [laughs].”

Lorenzo Pellegrini

Is first place a goal now?

“Our goal is to always improve. Compared to previous matches, our attacking phases were better. We could’ve scored more goals, but what we want is to always improve. We really wanted to do well, to show that we want to give it our all on the pitch.”

It looks like Roma are playing at home, as there were so many fans here in Reggio Emilia.

“We’re lucky in that respect. It’s always like this for us. We have all these fans who maybe don’t realise how crucial they are to us. This stadium has been a home for me. I have many great memories here. I want to give a shoutout to Sassuolo fans, you’re in my heart.”
