Trigoria training pitch named after Giacomo Losi

From today, one of the training pitches at the Centro Sportivo Fulvio Bernardini is named after Giacomo Losi. His name appears on a large plaque on the walkway leading to the pitches, where it can be clearly seen by all the first-team and academy players and serve as a reminder of the loyalty and sense of belonging that set him apart.

An undisputed Roma legend, Losi played 455 games for the club, always with impeccable conduct and the utmost tenacity. He captained the team on 299 occasions, lifting the 1961 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup and the Coppa Italia twice, in 1964 and 1969.

The inauguration ceremony for the 'Giacomo Losi pitch' was held in Trigoria on 11 September, the day after what would have been his 90th birthday. His wife, children and grandchildren attended the event and were welcomed by Claudio Ranieri, Bruno Conti and Ricky Massara on behalf of the owners.

Also present were many of the people who knew 'Core de Roma' during his life and are part of the wider Giallorossi family, such as Giancarlo De Sisti, Daniele De Rossi, Giuseppe Tamborini, Sebino Nela, Paolo Alberto Faccini.

As part of the inauguration, Losi's grandsons Giacomo and Marco were invited to play with some of the Roma legends present against a team made up of Giallorossi academy staff. It was a special occasion for the likes of Vincent Candela, Aldair, Pizarro, Cerci, Scarchilli, Romondini e Quadrini to play together once again and pay homage to an extraordinary footballer and captain. Losi now joins fellow captains Fulvio Bernardini, Agostino Di Bartolomei and Amedeo Amadei in being commemorated at the Trigoria facility that serves as the club's headquarters.
