“Let’s Play Together”: Roma and Bologna Special teams watch the game from the Quiet Room at the Olimpico

An initiative promoting friendship and inclusion for Roma’s first game of the season against Bologna on Saturday 23 August.

Roma and Bologna Special teams gathered in the Quiet Room of the Olimpico to watch the opening match of the season, which ended in a Roma victory. The room was specially set up by Sport e Salute to ensure peace and quiet for selected groups of fans with autism.

Athletes with intellectual disabilities from AS Roma for Special and BFC Senza Barriere (BFC Without Barriers) spent the full 90 minutes together socialising and showing how sport can be a powerful vehicle for inclusion that promotes integration and participation. The occasion also demonstrated how sport is a useful tool in breaking down barriers, overcoming prejudice and creating a more open and welcoming society.

Before the match, two legends, Federico Balzaretti and Marco Di Vaio, greeted the teams on behalf of the two clubs and expressed their appreciation for the commitment and dedication the athletes showed while representing Roma and Bologna in FIGC’s Paralympic and Experimental Football Division.
