Dozens of children from financially and socially vulnerable households have had the chance to enjoy a part of the summer playing sports, learning and having fun: they did so by taking part for free in the sixth edition of the Sustainability Social Camps, organised by AS Roma.
The initiative took place from 30 June to 11 July within the Dabliu Eur Sport Club, with the support of HDI Assicurazioni, the club’s Insurance Partner, which provided the necessary insurance coverage for the staff and the participants for free.
Among the participants there were also the refugee minors from the “Santa Bakhita” reception centre, thanks to Caritas Roma, which collaborated in selecting the children who could get this opportunity with the Forum Terzo Settore Lazio APS, the Presidency of Municipio IX and the parishes that are part of the club’s community network
Every day spent at the camp was devoted to a specific UEFA policy on sustainability: football for all abilities, equality and inclusion, tackling racism and bullying, the climate emergency and the protection of minors and young people were the topics covered through educational activities in the morning and sports activities and workshops in the afternoon.
AMA made a major contribution in the second week, as it presented its “Waste Travel 360°” campaign, aimed at promoting the circular economy model, as did the Italian Red Cross Rome Municipio 9 Committee volunteers, who carried out practical demonstrations of first aid techniques for the children.
The presentation of the participation certificates to the second group took place on 11 July and was attended by Maurizio Lombardo, AS Roma’s Chief Football Operating Officer, Vice President of the Regional Council of Lazio Giuseppe Cangemi, President of the Municipal Environmental Company (AMA) Bruno Manzi, Councillor for Sport and Major Events of Municipio IX Patrizio Chiarappa, Head of the Minors’ Department of the Diocesan Caritas of Rome Maria Francesca Posa, the representative of the Italian Red Cross Rome Municipio 9 Committee Stefania Bastianelli, Spokesperson of the Forum del Terzo Settore Lazio APS Francesca Danese, the Director of the Postal Police and Cybersecurity Ivano Gabrielli and Dabliu centers co-owner Ugo Pambianchi.
This multi-themed initiative, which covers virtually all the club’s CSR areas of intervention, has marked the end of a season that featured many activities carried out by AS Roma across the region. The aim has been to boost the efforts made together with the stakeholders to constantly enhance the tangible benefits to the community throughout the 2025/26 season too.
