Fifth edition of the AS Roma Social Camp for vulnerable children gets under way

Ahead of the start of the new season, the club continues to show its commitment to supporting the community with free summer camps on offer to local children from difficult social backgrounds.

The AS Roma Social Camp, which is now in its fifth edition, will run from 1 to 12 July at the Circolo Sportivo Dabliu Eur, thanks to the contribution by the Lazio Regional Council.

The Forum Terzo Settore, parishes and the Presidency of the IX Municipio, which are part of the club’s community network, have come together to identify children in the city living in financially and socially vulnerable conditions in order to offer them a quality recreational and educational experience during the summer holidays. New developments for this year include a significant collaboration with Caritas di Roma, thanks to which children from the Santa Bakhita reception centre will participate in the AS Roma Social Camp for the first time, in line with the refugee support policy in the club’s sustainability strategy.

All participants will engage in sporting activities run by a team of Roma coaches split into two daily sessions, either side of lunch and educational programmes. These include lessons to prevent and combat bullying and cyberbullying, journalism lessons to promote awareness when using the media and events to raise awareness held with the contribution of the RomaNatura Regional Authority, which is serving up a fun and educational opportunity to get closer to a sustainable lifestyle both environmentally and ethically by understanding biodiversity and its importance across the region. Two weeks of enjoyment, inclusion and sharing underpinned by the spirit that has always run through the club’s activities within the community are in store.

Two AS Roma partners are also planning to contribute. HDI Assicurazioni will provide the necessary insurance cover for staff and participants, while Toyoya/KINTO will take care of the shuttle bus for refugee children by providing vehicles for the “Unstoppable – Superiamo gli Ostacoli” service.
