Betty Bavagnoli signs new deal with Roma until 30 June 2027

AS Roma are delighted to announce that Betty Bavagnoli has renewed her contract with the club until 30 June 2027.

Betty Bavagnoli has been a guiding light for the AS Roma women's team since the day of its foundation, and was the head coach until the 2020-21 season, winning the Coppa Italia - the club's first-ever trophy - in that campaign.

Ahead of the 2021-22 season she took on the role of Head of Women's Football. Betty oversaw very positive results, as Roma won the Scudetto and the Italian Super Cup as well as qualifying for the Champions League for three consecutive seasons.

“The Friedkin family and AS Roma are pleased and proud to continue working with Betty Bavagnoli,” commented Roma CEO, Lina Souloukou. “It's not just in light of the results achieved in recent years by our First Team and Primavera team, which are evident to all, but also for the improvement of the club's assets and the evolution of the women’s football movement within our community.

“The Friedkin family has always considered the women's sector one of the key elements in the club's growth process. AS Roma has been able to assume a position of absolute prominence and main reference in the Italian football sphere as a result of the ownership's constant and ever-increasing commitment, having won the Coppa Italia, Super Cup, Scudetto, and participated honourably in the last two seasons of the UEFA Women's Champions League.

“Our ownership's ambition is to not only continue to be successful, but to grow even more in European elite football.”

Roma’s European adventures in recent seasons have seen ever-increasing levels of enthusiasm, culminating in the women’s team debuting at the Stadio Olimpico and setting an attendance record for a women's football match in Italy.

“My new contract is proof of the confidence and support that owners have always given me,” stated Betty Bavagnoli. “From my very first day at the head of the women's department I shared a common vision with the club - to work towards Roma becoming one of Italian football’s leading lights and developing on the international stage.

“I’d like to thank the Friedkin family and CEO Lina Souloukou from the bottom of my heart for giving me the opportunity to continue this journey as well as the people who work with me for the support and professionalism they show every day. Last but not least, a special thanks to our fans – there are still big things for us to achieve together."

In addition to the Head of Women's Football, sporting director Gianmarco Migliorati has also signed a three-year extension to his deal with AS Roma.

"Our sporting director's contribution has been fundamental for the team's growth," Bavagnoli added. “We are united by the same ambition. To build an increasingly competitive Roma.”

Coordinator Carlo Maria Stigliano has likewise renewed his contract for the same time period.

“I thank Carlo for the valuable work he does every day for the women's department,” said Bavagnoli.
